DOT and DOP should be fully merged irrespective of cadres of staff and officers.

There is a bad news for postal employees and common people.Very shortly the operative units of postal department are going under private secter, consequently the following probabilities are anticepated:
1.A number of employees and officers may be declared surplus.
2.The interest on PLI/RPLI/PO SAVING A/Cs may be lessened by 1 or 2 percent.
3. IN the name of setting new infrastructure the franchisee may stop withdrawal from PO SAVING BANKS for some months or so.
For this negociation with private sectors is going on at final stage, that is why the DOP INDIA has instructed postal employees to open their A/Cs in the Banks governed by RBI.
As an after effect, cost of all postal stationeries like postcards, envelopes, potage charges, speed post etc. may be hiked.
The merger of DOP & DOT is also for the above reasons.

Dear Comrade Pokhraj - Greetings - The idea to corporatise the Postal Department had been directed by the Planning Commission during earlier five year Plan itself - The present Five Plan also envisage the direction - The corporate plan of department of posts possess the seeds of future corporatisation - but your assessment that very shortly the operative units of postal are going under private sector is far fetched and the connection you are making for your assessment with the merger of Accounts of DOP and DOT is also incorrect - We actually welcome the merger of DOP-DOT as it would increase the promotional opportunities of our employees in general and the waitlisted JAOs in particular - Regards
