DEAR COMRADES - The following is the news update today:
1. PAY COMMISSION:
CONFEDERATION has ascertained from the DOPT that still the date for the meeting of the ''Committee of Secretaries' NOT FIXED. Unless the Secretaries Committee meets and finalises on the basis of the directions given to Cabinet Secretary by the PMO on 28.07.2008, the Cabinet cannot consider and approve implementation of the pay commission. NFPE feels that the Finance Ministry may try to take advantage of the current political situation and fix the date of effect prospectively instead of 1.1.2006. However without the meeting of Committee of Secretaries finalises we would not be able to know the correct position.
2. TOUR OF SECRETARY GENERAL:
Secretary General will be on organisational tour from today. He leaves Delhi tonight. Attending a CG Employees State level Convention in Chennai on 9.8.2008 and the P3 Divisional Conference of Chennai City North Division on 10.8.2008. On 13.8.2008 he will be participating in the State level Convention of State Government Employees in the Union Territory of Pondicherry. On 14.8.2008 he will address the meeting of Postal Accounts and Postal Employees of Chennai City to observe the NFPE Call of "HIGHLIGHT STRIKE CHARTER OF DEMANDS DAY". He will be attending RMS Conference and Comrade Y.Nagabhushanam's felicitation function in Vijayawada on 17.8.2008. Then he will remain in Chennai upto Strike Day on 20th August and will leave for Kolkata on 21st to attend the State level conference of Casual and contingent labourers of Postal Department in Kolkata on 22nd and 23rd August. The Secretary General will be back in Headquarters on 25.08.2008.

5. SECRETARY NFPE JOINS NFPE HQ:
Comrade R.N.Parashar the Secretary NFPE has today morning joined NFPE Headaquarters. He will be staying in NFPE and look after the affairs of the Federation during the absence of the Secretary General and will be assisting the Officiating Secretary General upto 18th August and will report duty on 19th August to participate in the Strike on 20th August.
