The VI Central Pay Commission had wound up its office almost and completed its functioning. The recommendations are going to be submitted to Government any time. We ascertained from the Pay Commission Office that it would not be possible for it to go into the issues of GDS and that we have to approach Nataraja Murti Committe only. We know that all other Federations and Unions have already submitted their memorndum to GDS Committee and that tendering oral evidence too started with others.
NFPE has no alternative in this situation. Therefore after expressing the inevitability in the GDS All India Conference, NFPE has submitted a copy of the same memorandum to GDS Committee on 25.02.2008 after consulting with the General Secretaries of affiliates. The GDS Committee has asked us at that time as to when we would like to tender oral evidence. Secretary General NFPE consulted Comrade Mahadevaiah and it has been decided that NFPE delegation with all General Secretaries including General Secretary GDS Union would go together for tendering oral evidence before Nataraja Murti Committee shortly.
We will try to impress upon the Committee on the basic issues of GDS without having any illusions however.
