TAMILNADU FOR TOTAL STRIKE ON 20TH AUGUST

CHENNAI CONVENTION CALLS FOR TOTAL STRIKE

 

A well attended State Convention of Central and State Government Employees and Teachers Organisations of Tamilnadu Circle decided to organise total strike in Tamilnadu on 20^th August. More than 1000 Delegates attended the Convention on 9.8.2008 in Chennai City.

 

The Convention was inaugurated by the CITU Leader and Rajya Sabha Member Comrade T.K.Rangarajan and addressed by DMK led Labour Union Leader and Lok Sabha Member Shri. C.Kuppusamy and also by State AITUC General Secretary Com.S.S.Thiagarajan. Comrade TKR and S.S.Thiagarajan exposed the UPA Government.'s globalisation policies and the need to organise consistent struggles. Shri. C.Kuppusamy expressed support to the demands of the strike and declared that the LPF affiliated Postal employees union has decided to join the strike on 20^th August. 

 

Comrade K.Ragavendran Secretary General NFPE addressed the Convention and called upon the entirety of CG Employees to send a strong message to the UPA Government through total strike on 20^th August that any tampering with the Pay Commission's recommendation on date of effect etc would be met by stiffer and higher agitations including indefinite strike. Later the Secretary General personally thanked the LPF Leader and MP Shri. C.Kuppusamy for the decision of joining the strike.

 

The Convention was presided over by a presidium of Confederation, AISGEF and Teachers Organisation leaders Comrades A.G.Pasupathy, Thamizh Selvi and N.Parvatharajan. The Declaration calling the Central, State Government Employees and the Teachers to join the strike en-masse was presented by the General Secretary of Tamilnadu State Government Employees Comrade R.Muthu Sundaram and seconded by Comrades M.Duraipandian the General Secretary Confederation Tamilnadu and K.Rajendran General Secretary STFI.

 

The support for the Strike on 20^th August is gathering momentum in Tamilnadu.
