REMEMBER COMRADE K.G.BOSE

TODAY - 11/12/2009 - IS THE DEATH ANNIVERSARY OF COMRADE K.G.BOSE - THE LEGENDARY LEADER OF P&T AND CG EMPLOYEES MOVEMENT

LET US REMEMBER THE GREATEST LEADER AND TAKA A VOW TO FOLLOW HIS IDEALS AND PRINCIPLES IN OUR ORGANISATION

Comrade Krishnagopal Basu who was Comrade K.G Bose or simply KG Da for millions of P&T and CG Employees in the country is remembered by all comrades who knew him by acquaintance and also by all who came to know about his great contributions through teachings of history and trade union classes. No trade union can survive for long with all its strength and potential before the powers that be without its democratic moorings strong. Trade Union democracy is the life of every mass organisation and the greatness of Comrade K.G Da was that he waged a relentless battle for upholding the trade union democracy in the P&T Trade Union Movement. The lessons of the battle led by him for restoration of trade union democracy are still guiding all of us in preserving the ideals and maintaining the strength of our organisation.

Trade Union movement in India as like any other country was established and grown against the tyrannical and suppressive measures of the rulers. It takes the supreme sacrifices of many to build a strong trade union organisation for winning the collective bargaining rights of the workers. The P&T Trade Union is not an exception to this condition and Comrade K.G.Bose was a marvelling example for his sacrifices. He was arrested – He was underground to escape attempts on his life – He was dismissed from service again and again despite his winning the battle in court of law – He was tortured by the Government by denying the recognition to the federation led by him as President despite his democratic majority in the organisation. He survived all these attacks and led the millions of P&T and CG Employees through times of tribulations and agitations.

Nature also was cruel to him. It bestowed its worst disease of cancer on him. But to his fame as a fighter, he was fighting the cruel disease also. His last words of love and affection to our movement and the comrades from the death bed written before he breathed his last in a London Hospital proved his inherent mental strength on the face of sudden death on 11

th December 1974.

Thousands of leaders and activists of P&T and CG Employees have followed and following the great path shown by Comrade K.G. Da in our day to day trade union life. Comrade KG Bose is the inspiration Let us remember this greatest leader on this historic day of 11

th December with our banner dipped in honour of Comrade KG Bose.
