KHAKI UNIFORM FOR POSTMEN ONCE AGAIN

Sub:   Switchover of uniform of Postmen and Group D staff from blue to khaki

 

D.G. Posts No. 23-3/2008-UPE dated 9th Dec, 2009.

 

The colour of the uniform of the Postmen and Group D staff changed to blue in the year 2004. However, there have been demand from the Postal Unions/Associations for switchover from blue colour of the uniform to khaki colour.

 

After detailed consideration and taking into account the views of the Circles and deliberations with the Postal Unions/Associations, a decision has been taken by the Postal Service Board for a switchover to khaki colour uniform for eligible categories of Postmen and Group D staff. 

 

A proposal to revise the design of the uniform is also under consideration .In the meantime, the Circles are requested to procure and supply khaki cloth as per DOPT specification for the minimum requirement that is absolutely essential as a change in the uniform design, material, specification etc. is under consideration.
