CONCESSION TO SENIOR CITIZENS

As per the Telecommunications Tariff Order notified by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on 9th March 1999 (Schedule 1, item 5), following concessions in monthly rental are provided to senior citizens in respect of Rural Fixed line services:

      It is mandatory to offer the above as part of standard package. However, the service providers have the flexibility to offer alternative combinations of tariff to different classes of subscribers in a non-discriminatory manner.

      The following concessions are provided to senior citizens (65 years and above) by government controlled Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), i.e. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) & Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL):

BSNL – BSNL is granting following concessions in fixed line telephone connection to senior citizens:

(i) Registration of telephone on priority under NON-OYT-Special category,

(ii) Exemption from payment of registration charges while registering the   request for a telephone connection.

MTNL – Senior citizens are allowed following concessions on landline telephone  

   connections:

(i) 25% concession in installation,

(ii) 25% concession in monthly service charges in plan 250.

About 10 lac Workers through out the country took part in the Parliament March and criticised the anti people, anti Worker and anti Farmer policies of Government of India.

PART-TIME, CONTINGENT & CONTRACT WORKERS FEDERATION DHARNA AT DAK BHAWAN

One day mass hunger fast was conducted in front of the Dak Bhawan by the All India Postal Casual, Part-time, Contingent & Contract workers Federation under the banner of NFPE on 19.12.2012 protesting against the abnormal delay in revision of wages of the casual labourers at par with the minimum revised pay of the Central Government employees w.e.f. 01.01.2006 and also regularization of their services. More than one hundred Part–Time Casual labours participated. Com. M. NEWS IN BRIEF

1. Standing Committee meeting of JCM Departmental Council was held on 18.12.2012 under the chairpersonship of Ms. Yesodhara Menon, Member (Personnel), Postal Services Board. All the pending items of the last JCM (DC) were discussed. Minutes will be published later.

2.    JCM Departmental Council meeting will be held on 28.12.2012. Ms. Manjula Prashar, Secretary, Department of Posts and Postal Board Members will participate in the meeting. all the new items will be discussed in the meeting.

5.   East Zone Study Camp of NFPE will be held at Guwahati (Assam) during the month of April 2013. Delegates from Orissa, West Bengal, Assam of North East will participate. Details will follow.

6.    Federal Council of NFPE will be held at Hyderabad during the month of June 2013. Details will follow.

7.  Postal Board has informed that the IT Modernisation Project of 5000 crores will be implemented most expeditiously and in a time bound manner. Major changes in the day to day functioning of BOs, SOs, HPOs, RMS, Postal Accounts & Administrative offices are going to take place. Details will follow.

COM. ASHA BEN JOSHI JOINS AIPEU – GDS (NFPE)

Com. Asha Ben Joshi, Former All India Vice President & Circle Secretary of AIPEDEU Gujarat Circle has joined AIPEU-GDS (NFPE) along with the entire GDS membership. She is elected as the new Circle Secretary of AIPEU-GDS (NFPE) Gujarat Circle in the Circle Conference held at Jamnagar on 16.12.2012.

During the last eight months, since the formation of the new GDS Union 70 to 100% of the GDS membership and leadership in majority of the Circles have already joined the AIPEU-GDS (NFPE). They have participated in the 12^th December Strike.

In the next membership verification AIPEU-GDs (NFPE) will definitely become the only recognized union of GDS. GDS employees have lost faith in the existing recognized union as it has lost credibility by repeatedly misguiding the employees. Anti-NFPE slogan is no longer going to work.

Regarding GDS Bonus the propaganda made by Mahadevaiah group GDS union is TOTALLY FALSE. 

Finance Ministry HAS NOT APPROVED the proposal for raising the GDS Bonus ceiling to Rs.3500 but returned the file without approval.

Mahadevaiah group flashed the false news on 10^th December deliberately to sabotage the 12.12.12 united strike.

During their last fragmented strike also they have made such false propaganda saying strike is total in all Circles and 3500 order will be issued during the strike and thereafter before Pooja. ALL LIES. They are misguiding the GDS.  

Mahadevaiah’s GDS union has not served strike notice for 12^th December strike  and given letter to the administration to take action against those who participated in the 12^th December strike.Please see letter below=M. Krishnan, S.G., NFPE.

MODERNISATION AND DIVERSIFICATION OF POST OFFICES

The Department of Posts has decided to improve Look and Feel of its post offices through Project Arrow. The project has been launched by modernizing departmental post offices across the country in a phased manner with an aim to make visible, tangible and noteworthy differences in post office operations that matter to ‘Aam Aadmi’. It aims at comprehensive improvement of the core operations of the post office as well as the ambience in which postal transactions are undertaken.           The number of post offices covered for modernization under ‘Look & Feel’ component of ‘Project Arrow’ during the last three years is as follows: 2009-10  -  500 post offices covered 2010-11  -  530 post offices covered 2011-12  -  206 post offices covered           The Department is diversifying activities in post Office to earn additional revenue which is an on-going process. The IT Platform set up under the IT project will support new products and services. It had diversified its activities to utilize its vast network to sell products and services for other organizations like: 1.     Booking of Railway reserved tickets. 2.     UID enrolment/Delivery of AADHAAR cards. 3.     Selling of passport forms in identified post offices. 4.     Accepting of utility bills in identified post offices. 5.     Disbursement of wages to MGNREGA beneficiaries through Post Office Savings            bank 6.     Collection of Rural Price Index Data – the data so collected are electronically         ransmitted to Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation. 7.     Payment of old age pension paid by State Government through Post Office Savings         Account and through Money Orders. 8.     Sale of gold Coins. 9.     Provision of New Pension Scheme through Post Officers, etc.           This information was given by Dr (Smt.) Killi Kruparani, Minister of State for C&IT in written reply to a question in Rajya   Sabha today. ******** MV/RK (PIB)

GUJARAT CIRCLE CONVENTION: AIPEU-GDS (NFPE)   AIPEU-GDS (NFPE) - GUJARAT CIRCLE UNION FORMED {REPORT BY AIPEU-GDS (NFPE): CHQ Gujarat Circle Convention was been held on 16-12-2012 at Jamnagar. The GDS comrades attended from almost all Divsions of the Circle in the convention.  Com.K.V.Sridharan, Leader, JCM Staffside & former General Secretary, AIPEU Gr.C., Com.R.N.Parashar, Asst. Secretary General, NFPE, Com.I.S.Dabas, General Secretary, AIPEU PM&Gr.D/MTS, Com.Balwinder Singh, Financial Secretary, Gr.C (CHQ)  attended and graced the Convention in a very delightful manner. Com. Smt. Ashaben Jyothi unanimously elected as Circle Secretary of AIPEU-GDS(NFPE) and assured to form all Divisional / Branch Unions in the Circle at the earliest. 13 divisions are formed there itself in the Convention. The CHQ conveys its heartfelt greetings and congratulations to all the Circle Office bearers and sincerely thanking all GDS Comrades and NFPE unions for their big share to GDS NFPE in Gujrat Circle.
