IMPLEMENTATION OF GDS COMMITTEE

GOPINATH COMMITTEE MAY HOLD FURTHER MEETINGS NEXT WEEK BEFORE SUBMITTING ITS REPORT

 

Dear Comrades! There is tremondous expectations amongst the GDS that the Report of the Senior Officers Committee headed by Shri.P.K.Gopinath would be submitted as assured by the Department on 18.12.2008 and again on 13.01.2009 by the Secretary Department of Posts. As admitted by the Secretary [P] herself there is delay in submission of the Report by Gopinath Committee. On one side we were led to believe that the Committee had completed its task and the Report was about to be submitted. But on the other we are getting so many confusing reasons for delay in submission of the Report. The delay is causing frustration, agony, and disappointment amongst the entire GDS employees.

 

Now we are again coming to understand that the members of the Gopinath Committee are being summoned once again to New Delhi and there is likely to be further sittings of the Committee next week. The Report will be submitted only after that to the Department probably in the last week of January 2009 only.

Sub: Early wage revision of GDS – reg.

 

 

Madam,

 

We were happy that you directed during the course of discussion on 13^th January for early submission of Report by the Senior Officers Committee headed by Shri.P.K.Gopinath. We were also glad to hear your assurances on that day that before the end of January the proposals would be prepared for submission to the approval of Cabinet well in time before election code of conduct comes into play after providing us adequate opportunity to hear our views.

 

Unfortunately, the Committee Report is further getting delayed.  We would like to draw your kind attention that you too appreciated our view point that the Senior Officers Committee, which was constituted on 7.11.2008 with a time limit up to 7.12.2008, has not only taken further time up to 7.1.2009, but consuming time beyond that also.

 

This Federation would appreciate your kind intervention in this matter to cause to ensure immediate submission of Report by the above Committee and to speedily undertake subsequent action as assured for implementation of wage revision of GDS since there is widespread genuine concern amongst the totality of GDS Employees.
