NFPE DEMAND LGO EXAM ON NEW LIBERALISED SYLLABUS

LGO EXAM ANNOUNCED BY DEPARTMENT ON OLD SYLLABUS

AFTER ONE YEAR OF PREPARATION OF NEW SYLLABUS DEPARTMENT GOING BACK TO OLD SYLLABUS

VIOLATION OF APRIL 2007 UNDERSTANDING

NFPE OPPOSES LGO EXAM ON OLD SYLLABUS AND DEMANDED CANCELLATION OF EXAM

EXAM ON NEW SYLLABUS IS OUR DEMAND

Dear Comrades - The Department has unilaterally announced the examination for LGO during December 2008 on the old syllabus only. All efforts to finalise the new syllabus is over and therefore again holding exam on the old syllabus is not going to help the LGO Officials. We opposed old syllabus and demanded cancellation of announced exam and wanted exam to be conducted on the basis of the liberalised and easy new syllabus to enable most of the LGO officials pass the exam and fill up the vacancies. The letter given to Secretary [P] on this issue is reproduced below for information:

PF-18/2008     Dated 13th October 2008

To

The Secretary

Department of Posts

Dak Bhawan

New Delhi – 110001

Sir,

Sub: Holding of LGO Exam on the basis of old syllabus – Request for

cancellation of exam and holding it on the revised syllabus – reg.

Ref:  DOP Order F.No.A-34012/7/2007-DE Dated 25.09.2008.

This Federation is shocked to find that the Department of Posts has ordered LGO Examination on 27.12.2008 based on old syllabus in an unilateral manner undermining the understanding between the official and staff sides. It is also surprising to see that all the efforts undertaken by the Department and the Staff Side to compute a new syllabus during the past months have gone waste. The understanding that one more chance for all LGO Officials [who have exhausted chances] would be given for writing the examination is also undermined.

The decision of the Department during April 2007 raised high hopes and aspirations amongst the LGO Officials and all of them have been anticipating announcement of examination under a new and liberalised syllabus. The circulation of new model question papers further gave hope to them. People started preparing themselves to write the exam based on revised syllabus. Therefore the release of orders on 25th September 2008 by the DE Section is causing a rude shock to all of them.

The unilateral order of exam on old syllabus is totally contradicting the facts which warranted a decision last year for revising the syllabus in a liberalised way. This Federation therefore requests you to kindly cause to order cancellation of the exam on 27.12.2008 and take steps for circulation of the finalised new syllabus and a different date for holding the LGO examination with the permission to appear for those who have exhausted all their chances as per the understanding reached in April 2007 talks.

This Federation would highly appreciate your kind action  in this regard.

Thanking you

Yours faithfully,
